A Night of Painting . . . .
Wednesday, October 17, 2012 • Posted October 17, 2012

It was a night of painting at The Painted Tree Studio and the artists choose to paint the ‘cave painting.’

First each person was asked to come up with a story line that they wanted to communicate through their art work. This story was then condensed down to three lines. Each line was translated into symbols. At this time the painting on canvas began. An assortment of rocks were on hand to touch, examine and duplicate in showing strata and rock formations...and the white canvas started to look like the walls of a cave or side of a cliff.

After the cave background was done, symbols representing their story were added to the canvas. After leaving their red hand signature on the canvas, the artists chose some earth from one of three large jars. Inside these jars where three colors of local Mason earth.

Adhering this texture to the canvas gave the paintings an earthy feel of a painting or story on a cave wall.

Come join in one of these fun painting events. No experience is needed only a fun attitude...and all supplies are provided. Groups can be as small as three people or can expand up to ten. The class paints the same painting and is guided step by step by an instructor.

Go by NONNIE’S Coffee Shop on the square to view paintings that you can choose to duplicate in a class. New paintings come out each month. Call Bridget at 325-805-1176 to set up a date and time which works best for you and your friend, spouse, co workers, or hunting buddies.
