Goat Cookoff Issuing Call for Arts & Crafts Vendors
Wednesday, August 13, 2008 • Posted August 13, 2008

Plans for the 35th Annual World Championship Barbeque Goat Cook-Off and Arts & Crafts Fair are underway in Brady, Texas. The Brady/McCulloch County Chamber of Commerce would like to invite all vendors to be a part of the 35th Anniversary of the event on Labor Day weekend. The fair is Saturday, August 30th from 9 am to 5 pm.

Limited booth space remains and the entry fee is $100 per booth. The booth spaces are 10’ x 10’ in the open-air or 8’ x 10’ under a covered pavilion. There is a $5.00 fee for electricity if needed and access to it is limited. Entries are handled on a first come first served basis with an entry deadline of August 15th, 2008.

This is a great fair due to its built-in audience with 150 cooking teams at the cook-off and the family, friends and fans who come with them from far and wide. The fair also draws a great crowd because of its reputation with an estimated attendance of 6,000 throughout the day.

About the World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-Off: What began in 1973 as a small fundraiser for the local Jaycees with 16 cooking teams, Brady’s Goat Cook-Off is the longest running of its kind in Texas with 150 team entries each year. There are approximately 20,000 goats in McCulloch County and it ranks among the top 20 counties in the nation for goat production. Goats are a $2 million industry in our area.
