The 2008 Mason County Queen’s court is off to a fast start. These young ladies began their reign in mid July and were busy getting ready for their first official event of the year. This past Saturday the young ladies attended a parade in Junction and brought back a 1st place blue ribbon in the out of town civic float division. Later that evening the girl’s participated in the Young At Heart Banquet. And then on Sunday held a fundraiser BBQ lunch and bake sale to help defray expenses for the float, such as costumes, candy and fuel to pull to the approximately 10-12 parades during the year. A special thanks to the following business for their generous donations for the BBQ lunch. Deadwood BBQ, Edward Velez, Weber Chevron, Short Stop, Charlie Reichenau, Mason Bottling, Dairy Queen, Pat Eubanks, Super S Foods, MKM Home Health, Gigi’s, Zavalas, Mason Clinic, and the Boy Scouts. The Queen and her court will be at a parade every weekend in August. As ambassadors for Mason County the girls not only represent Mason in out of town events, they also a big part of the many functions held in Mason through out the year. Anyone wishing to make a donation to the court can contact Julie Gillispie, Kim Jordan, or the chamber office.
