The Mason Lion's Club met Tuesday, September 30, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 44 members and 9 visitors in attendance. Among the visitors were 2 Mason High School Seniors, Madison Stewert and Lauren Keith.

Lion Ron Freytag was responsible for the program and introduced Dr. Sherra Theisen and Jan Schultz who spoke about the Texas Nature Project. The showed a power-point presentation that showed some of the students that they serve and gave a few interesting statements that the students had to say about nature. The project helps urban students to better understand the world they live in by getting them out into a rural environment so they can see animals and plants and learn about them. They also have a chance to see they night sky without all the city lights to take away from their beauty.

The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, October 7, at noon at Zavala's. The program will be the monthly business meeting.

The Mason Lions Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local bank. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
