Wednesday, October 8, 2008 • Posted October 8, 2008

The Mason Study Club began the 2008-2009 year with the first meeting on Sept 25 at the home of Jean Dudney, including a luncheon to welcome our newest members.

Matt Underwood made a presentation to club members explaining the details of the Mason ISD Rollback Election. The Mason Study Club planned an exciting year with great programs and fundraising events. The first successful fundraiser of the year, “Dog Gone Hot Dog Stand”, was held on Saturday, October 4, selling hotdogs at Old Yeller Days. The officers for this year are President: Dana Butler, Vice-President: Jean Dudney, Secretary: Judy Branch, Treasurer: Cindy Thinnes, Parliamentarian: Gerry Daniel, Reporter: Jane Shoemaker.

The primary objective of the Mason Study Club is support of the Mason County Library. The secondary objective is the support of community activities. Members hold fundraising events and are also known for their handmade photographic greeting cards of local wildflowers, hill country landscapes and wildlife. The cards are for sale at the Mason County Library and the Chamber of Commerce. They are reasonably prices at $2 each or four for 7.50. All proceeds benefit the Mason County Library.

The next meeting will be October 28 at 1 p.m. in the Stribling Room of the Mason County Library. Linda Laury will speak to the club about the art of Chair-making.
