Wednesday, October 15, 2008 • Posted October 15, 2008

The Mason Co. equestrian drill team kicked off the new season with a fun filled riding practice on September 29 at the Mason park arena.

In attendance were members: June Scripps-Captain, Jenny Scripps, Shari Clark, Carmen Bauer, Diane Peavey, Jeanne Hahn, Julie Nertz, Mercedes Moore, Jeffrey Williams and Sarah Stephenson. Members not present were: Margaret Durst and Cynthia Kothmann.

Captain Scripps has choreographed an all new routine this year that promises to be both challenging for the riders and entertaining for the crowd. She has also changed the membership regulations and is encouraging youth riders to come and participate and be a part of this fast growing equestrian sport. This is a team sport and is quickly becoming very popular throughout the country. Competitions are held all over the state and the team is securing sponsors to help pay for expenses and is hoping to make competing at a state level a possibility for the future.

There are several positions that need to be filled that do not require having a horse. These positions are: music manager, assistant ground coaches, and a costume manager.

For complete info please contact June Scripps at 429-6306 or s4j@hctc.net.

The next practice is scheduled for Oct. 27 from 6-8 p.m at the Mason Arena. Come watch a practice and see what all the excitement is about!
