The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, October 14th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 39 members and 4 visitors in attendance. Among the visitors were 2 Mason High School Seniors, Amanda Henrich and Rebecca Caffey.
Lion Gene Gammill was responsible for the program and introduced P. D. G. (Past District Governor), Zack Grey who spoke about the Lions Eye Bank. The Eye Bank collects corneas that are donated by people that leave their body for organ donation upon their death. Zack said that by checking the box on your driver's license when renewing will not always ensure that your corneas will go to the Lions Eye Bank. He suggested to complete the form found on the Website: DonateTexas.org or call (325) 653-8666 to talk to a worker at the eye bank if you have any questions. Zack's presentation was very informative.
The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, October 21st, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Dane Phillips and the program will be on the 5-K + 10-K Run-Walk, given by Eva Tannahill.
The Mason Lions Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
