Sign Theft
Wednesday, October 22, 2008 • Posted October 22, 2008

Dear Editor,

I’m trying to keep a good attitude, really I am. When my dear dead daddy’s cement jockey was mysteriously relocated from my yard to my across-the-road neighbor’s yard, I thought it was funny. No harm done. When my Obama sign was stolen from my yard a couple of weeks ago, I didn’t like it, but again, I figured it was only kids cutting up after the football game. So I got a replacement. But today, a second Obama sign has disappeared out of my yard. I’m beginning to take this personally.

Isn’t theft, theft, regardless of the item taken? In this case, not only was my property stolen, but my first amendment right as well. Can’t we just agree to express our differences at the ballot box and keep things neighborly?

I’m hopeful we can.
