Mason High School to Host Financial Aid Night
Wednesday, November 12, 2008 • Posted November 12, 2008

It’s time to consider your student’s future and the challenges presented by increasing costs of higher education. To help you prepare, a representative from Panhandle-Plains Student Loan Center will present a free financial aid orientation on Monday, November 17th at 5:30 in the evening in the high school library.

Students and parents can enjoy refreshments as they listen to a presentation by Jim Glossbrenner, who for many years has been helping students and their families learn how to pay for college. In addition to answering all of your questions about the FAFSA, he will provide helpful handouts to all attendees. A financial aid officer from Angelo State University will also be on hand to answer questions about how financial aid decisions are made at the college level.

The program should last about an hour and will cover the steps in completing the general application form (FAFSA), stress the importance of grants and scholarships, and cover the nature of student and parent loans. There will be a drawing for a $200 scholarship for attending seniors or seniors represented by a parent.

Although the presentation will be especially helpful for 2009 graduates, all students and parents are welcome and would benefit from the session. Please contact Melany Canfield, high school counselor, at 347-1122 extension 224 for more information.
