Mason County EMS Supporters Begin “Operation Christmas Greeting”
Wednesday, December 3, 2008 • Posted December 3, 2008

“Operation Christmas Greeting” is Mason County’s EMS Association’s annual fundraiser. This is it’s seventh (7th) year and the purpose is to provide funding for the betterment of the association’s equipment. It, also, provides an ideal way for you to say “Merry Christmas” to everyone who reads this paper! It works like this:

Instead of mailing Christmas cards to your local friends and businesses you take the money you would have spent and make a donation to one of the “Greeting” accounts located at each of the three local banks. Of course, the success of the drives has always been because so many go above the cost of cards and postage.

In this paper’s Christmas edition (Dec. 24th), a full page Christmas “Greeting Card” will be published complete with a “Greeting” and an alphabetical listing of all contributors. Sample “Greeting” pages are on display in the lobby at each of the banks, as well as, extra coupons are likewise available at each bank.

To participate fill out a coupon, printing your name or business name, etc. exactly as you wish it to appear on the “Greeting”. (Minimum donations are $10.00 per listing.) Deposit the coupon with your check which has been made payable to “Operation Christmas Greeting” and marked “Donation-EMS” with any of the three banks. You may also mail it to one of the banking facilities. Be sure to address your envelope to: “Operation Christmas Greeting”, the name of the bank you are using and Mason, Texas 76856. (Local banks are: First State Bank, Mason National Bank and The Commercial Bank.)

As stated above, the funds are designated each year for equipment. Last year, GPS locators were first on the list for the ambulances and any excess funds raised were to be held and applied this year toward stair chairs which were next on the list of needed equipment. These chairs have tracks and will help the EMS personnel move their patients in a much safer fashion when having to maneuver up and down stairs.

A photo will be offered with next week’s article showcasing the items that you have provided funding for in these past fundraisers.

Each year I state that it may be your life or someone you love the EMS saves one day! This past year many of us have had this group come to our rescue. Our county is a very rural area and our medical facilities are usually a few miles to many miles down the highway. These employees and/or volunteers are our first responders when the emergency does occur. We hope that you will continue to help Mason County have the best EMS possible. This fundraiser has been a winner each year because when many people come together to support a cause, success is the final product.

Whether you live in Mason, visit Mason or just hold Mason in your heart from a distance, we invite your participation. You will be saying “Merry Christmas” to the many who read this newspaper plus supporting a “Life-Saving” organization. We thank you for your wonderful past support and ask for your continued support!
