The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, December 2nd, for its monthly business meeting. There were 43 members and 1 visitors in attendance. Among the visitors was 1 Mason High School senior, Orlando Jaquez.
"Boss Lion" Denwood Butler was responsible for the program and Sec./Tres. Gene Gammill read the minutes and gave the financial report.
The Christmas Party was discussed and it has been set for December 16 at noon at the Richard Eckert Civic Center. Dawn Hahn's 4th & 5th grade music students will perform songs and dance for our entertainment.
The Lions Club will have a Pancake Supper on January 23. This is a Friday and the Punchers and Cowgirls will play basketball, so everyone is encouraged to come out and support the teams and enjoy some good pancakes! John Gammill is the chairmen of this event that will be held at the Mason High School Common's Area next to the gym.
The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, December 9th, at noon at Zavala's. The programs chairman will be Kendall Hemphill.
The Mason Lions Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
