Welcome to Mason County... and “Merry Christmas”!
Wednesday, December 17, 2008 • Posted December 17, 2008

Many of the female newcomers to Mason County in the past ten years have been welcomed in a manner some of you might not be aware of. I am exposing a kind deed because a “Thank You” is due to those who have provided this “Welcome” and for you to know who some of our newcomers were at this year’s event.

Those who have lived here for a while know that Mason County has been ‘gifted’ with two ladies who say they have been friends since the 5th grade and it is these two who have been hosting the “Newcomers Welcome” for the past ten years. These two ladies are Doris Grote and Florene Hofmann. The “Welcome Gathering” has been in the form of a morning brunch usually in the spring but, this year, it was in the fall. Since Florene’s home is several miles out in the country, Doris’ lovely yard at her home in town has been used to host the events.

It was stated in October that this would be their final hosting event; however, the event will continue and these ladies will certainly continue to be in attendance to say “Welcome” to those ladies who are making Mason County their new home in the future.

So, to our newcomers who are pictured in the photos and to those who were unable to be present at the gathering, “Merry Christmas” and “Welcome to Mason County”, one more time!

To Doris and Florene, the citizens of Mason would like to say: Thank You, for the wonderful example you set. Thank You, for always being the caring and giving and supporting ladies that Mason County is so proud to call it’s own!
