Esta Marie Bush Capps

Esta Marie Bush Capps, of Pontotoc, passed away on Friday, December 12, at the age of 91. Esta Marie was born on May 8, 1917, in Mason County to Jack Bush and Mary Elizabeth Fergison Bush. She graduated from Hutchison High School in Pontotoc and on January 15, 1938, she married Carlos Capps.

Esta Marie worked at Western Auto, drove the school bus for many years and also worked as a teacher’s aide. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Christ. She loved being outdoors tending the flowers in her yard and she also enjoyed hunting. Esta Marie was a very good cook, liked to quilt and enjoyed spending time with her family and going to her grandkids’ sporting events.

She is survived by her daughter, Carla Beth Polk and husband Kenneth of Pontotoc, two brothers: JB Bush and wife Charlene of Hobbs, New Mexico, Jerry Bush and wife Charlene of Hobbs, New Mexico; one sister: Mary Lou Brady and husband Allen of Duncan, Oklahoma; two grandchildren: Billy Dale Polk and wife Pam of Brady and Kenya Abbott of Brady; a granddaughter-in-law, Carol Polk, 7 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Capps in 1973 and by a grandson, Kurt Polk.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, December 14, at 2:00 p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home chapel with Leston Fields officiating. Interment followed in the Pontotoc Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Steve Bush, Stanley Bush, Bruce Bush, Troy Brady, W.J. Harlow and Rusty Capps. Honorary pallbearers were C.W. Capps, W.D. Harlow, Brent Bush, Shannon Bush, David Brady, Kelly Bush and Jackie Bush.

Memorials in her honor may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
