Three Mason 5th graders participated in the regional science fair hosted by the Education Service Center in San Angelo, Texas, on May 19th.
The students advanced to the regional fair by placing in the top three spots in the local 5th grade science fair held at Mason Jr. High. First place in the local meet was Amber Hengst with a project on how different colors of light effect plant growth. The second place was awarded to Jacob Harris with a project about how the placement of weights effect Derby car speed, and the third place was Corinne Perlichek who tested the effects of different soil types on plant growth.
The top three students advanced to the regional science fair and competed against approximately forty other 5th graders from the region. Each of the Mason students received an honorable mention.
All Mason 5th graders did an excellent job this year on their science projects. We were very proud of all of them.
