Editor's Note: One of our readers pointed out that last week's article about Havana Schmidt did not clearly indicate her first place win at state UIL competition. We wanted to make sure everyone understood how important such a victory was, so we are giving everyone a second chance to congratulate her on her win.
Havana Schmidt Mason High School junior won the gold medal at state competition for ready writing on Monday, May 25th. Havana is coached by Kelly Guice, MHS English teacher.
Ruben Rodriquez state director for the contest sought out Mrs. Guice to offer comments on the superior quality of Havana’s paper. Havana was one of six MHS students who advanced to state competition for UIL academics two weeks ago.
