The Mason Clinic is having an Open House on Tues, June 16, from 12-2 p.m., celebrating the clinic’s 60 years of service to Mason County. They will be serving punch and cookies and invite the community to join them in celebrating this milestone event.

The clinic first opened in June of 1949. It was built by Mason County, and the physical plant is currently managed by the Mason County Hospital Board. (The original building was added onto after 1949; the photo is of the original building).

In its 60 years, the clinic has been open almost continuiously, in various capacities, to provide healthcare to the community. Through the years, it has functioned as an outpatient clinic, hospital, acute care center, emergency room, lonterm care facility and drug/alcohol treatment center.

For the past 20 years, the clinic has been open continuously, providing outpatient services. On December 1, 2008, the clinic joined the Frontera Healthcare Network as a federally qualified health center. Since that time, business has grown and they have been able to provide more affordable healthcare to the community. Their current medical staff (one fulltime physician assistant and 2 part-time family practice physicians) are affiliated with both Frontera and Scott and White. Under the management of Frontera, the clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8-5, with extended hours until 6 p.m. every Thursday, and one Saturday morning a month.

In addition, the Mason County Hospital Board currrently rents clinic space for outside providers to see patients in Mason, for general surgical, orthopedic surgery, and physical therapy consults.
