Carl Keith, the driving force behind Mason's annual Independence Day fireworks, has notified the News that this year's display will be held on July 4th.
Many times, Independence Day falls during the week, and the fireworks have been scheduled for the nearest Saturday or Sunday. This year, July 4 is a Saturday, and Mr. Keith reported that the fireworks will be scheduled for that evening. As usual, there is no specific time, but "shortly after sunset" has been given as the beginning time for the display.
This year, sunset will be at 8:44 p.m. on July 4, so viewers will want to be in place prior to that time to obtain good viewing locations. As in years past, the location for the fireworks will be Jasper Keiths field at the corner of Highways 29, 877 and 377 on the north end of Mason.
