Damon A. Simon, age 78 years of Bay City, Michigan, died June 25, 2009, at Brian’s House-Bay. He was born in Mason, TX, on October 8, 1930, to the late Frank and Mary (Gerdes) Simon. Damon attended Southwest Texas State University, graduated from Eastern Michigan University and attained a Master’s degree from the University of Michigan. He retired from the Essexville Hampton Public Schools as Director of Guidance at Garber High School. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Michigan School Counselor Association and the MARSP. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Damon was a volunteer at Bay Regional Medical Center for many years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret L. Redmond, whom he married February 6, 1954. He also leaves a son, Keith D. (Victoria) Simon; two grandchildren, McKenzie Simon and Grant Simon, and a brother, Ed Simon. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Simon.
Funeral and committal service were on Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. Jeffrey D. Weenink officiated. Private entombment was at Elm Lawn Mausoleum. Military Rites were provided by the Bay Co. Veterans Council. Memorial tributes may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Bay Medical Foundation Heart Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice.
