Bennett Franklin Martin, of Mason, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2009, at the age of 67.

Bennett was born in Oak Cliff, Texas on December 21, 1941, to Linnwood Martin and Bernita Walters Martin. He was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Bennett served his country in the U.S Army during the Vietnam War. He was a retired merchant marine sea captain. Bennett lived most of his life in Texas but moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico after retiring. In 1982 he moved to Mason County and lived in the “Maso-Llan” area by the Llano River.

Mr. Martin is survived by his daughter Candace Martin-O’Connor and husband Ben of Ft. Collins, Colorado, a granddaughter Lilly Dale O’Connor, a sister Bernita Faye Thomas of Vero Beach, Florida and by the mother of his daughter, Judith Work of Ft. Collins, Colorado.

It was Mr. Martin’s request that his body be cremated and that there would be no services.
