On September 12, 2009, the Texas AgriLife Extension Service will be hosting their annual Hill Country Professional Child Care Providers Conference at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Tx. This Year the theme will be "Hope is the Child: Love is the Gardener" and Kathy Lozano will be our keynote speaker. This is how Kathy describes her keynote: We have been chosen as loving gardeners for the children in our world. Just as a flower needs all the right ingredients to bloom, children depend on us to create and maintain a loving and nurturing environment. Let us celebrate the joy and wonder of children. They are out greatest teachers and our greatest inspiration.

This year the topics for the conference will include Do-Re-Me & You, Today is the Only Day: learn to focus your personal resources for maximum happiness and joy, Germ Busters, Alphabet Activities Get Up & Move, Yea! 4-H An Afterschool Adventure, Safety on the Home Front, and one workshop that will cover SIDS, Brain Development and Shaken Baby Syndrome. There will also be a director's tract covering Guiding Your Staff: Assessment, Behavior Problems & Communicating with Parents.

Child Care Continuing Education Units will also be awarded for participants that come to the conference. Registration cost is $35 if postmarked by August 21, 2009 and $50 if late.
