The Hilda United Methodist Church will be celebrating All Saints Sunday this coming Sunday, November 1 at its 11:00 a.m. service.

All Saints Day is the day Christians give thanks for all the good people God has placed in their lives, especially those who have already joined the heavenly saints. It is also a day when Christians give thanks for the presence of the Holy Spirit in their lives and in the lives of all people. It is not because people are special in and of themselves that we call them saints, but it is because they are ordinary, everyday people who allow the Holy Spirit to work through them, doing the mighty deeds of our Lord.

All Saints Day is a day for remembering and giving thanks, as Christians remember the good people they have known and give thanks for the unending goodness of God.

During the worship service, we will have a “lighting of remembrance candles” ceremony to remember Hilda members and others who have been buried in the Hilda Cemetery this past year. We will also remember Mason County’s own Mathew Puckett who was killed in the line of duty in Iraq. Rev. Mal Hierholzer’s sermon topic will be “This Is a Special Day!” Following the service, those who wish may proceed to the Hilda Cemetery with floral gifts to place on the graves of a loved one.

We invite the community to this service of remembrance and praise for those saints who have gone before us and for those saints who are continuing to spread the Word of God among us.
