Mr. Gamel

This is a response to "Politics as Usual, written by Josef Pinter.

Where was I eight years ago? The same place you probably were, denouncing the famed Patriot Act, criticizing Bush’s policy, speaking out against wiretapping. And, for the most part, I was still in high school and for two years in college. I heard the chants of Un-American and terrorist sympathizer, but tt didn’t bother me, since I knew these attacks was based on ignorance. However, I still debated anyone that would actually have a civil debate and made it a point to listen to them and their arguments and then offer my rebuttal and made my argument.

Though your argument about the right using fear mongering and ad hominem is true, why is it limited to the right? Is the left immune to the temptation of control? Sorry, but the left has used fear mongering by means of creating a false choice between no reform, or their reform, (with or without the public option) and don’t forget about the stimulus bill part two, hanging the word "depression" over our heads, and that’s just in this year. As for ad hominems, injecting race into the issue of health care and Obama’s little speech to school kids, not to mention, Pelosi calling opponents of their health care reform Nazis seems like a good start.

Unfortunately, I wish there was a viable third party to balance out the oligarchy created by the two-party system in place. That way, I actually have a good reason to vote instead of picking out the lesser of two evils, or like last year, deciding I wouldn’t vote because I could not support any of the candidates.

By the way, the definition of socialism isn’t concrete, because there are many varying theories, but in general terms, it’s a policy of social interventionism and economic rationalization, though sometimes, they conflict with each other, depending on the theory.
