Jon Vater passed away on Friday, December 11, in a San Antonio Hospital, at the age of 62. Jon was born on April 3, 1947, in Mason, to Milton Carl Vater and Louise Johnson Vater. He was raised in Mason and was a graduate of Mason High School and the University of Texas where he majored in Film and English. After graduation from UT Jon returned to Mason where he operated a water well service and also operated a TV satellite system.

Jon is survived by his brother Charles Vater and wife Joy Jeannette Vater of Beeville, an aunt Jane Armstrong of Menard, a nephew Jim Vater of Austin and a niece Judy Vater Chastain of Van, Texas.

A memorial service for Jon will be held on Sunday, December 20, at 2:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mason with Rev. Tim Fahrenthold officiating.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Mason Funeral Home.
