The 8th Grade Punchers have been hard at it in the past couple of weeks. After coming off a third place tournament win in Llano, the Punchers hosted their own Invitational with Llano, Nueces Canyon, and Junction with four divisions.

In the 8th Boys division, Junction took on Llano in game one and advanced after a 32-12 win. The Punchers then played Nueces Canyon and fell short of a win by the score 30-33. Mason then took on Llano in their next game, defeating Llano 33-15. Junction and Nueces Canyon played for the championship with Nueces Canyon winning by a margin of 37-23.

The Punchers then hit the road to take on Irion County in Mertzon Jan. 25.

Mason jumped to an early lead in the first quarter scoring eleven, then tacked on another five before the break. By the end of period three the Punchers lead 26-17. Good defense by the Punchers finished out the game holding I.C. to only three points in the final stanza.
