Mason, Texas, celebrates Texas Topaz Day, recognizing our native topaz as the Texas State Gemstone on Saturday, March 27.

Come to Gems of the Hill Country, on the historic Mason Square, to see gem faceting demonstrations, meet the folks that create the gems, and have refreshments. Visit the museum next door to see the largest topaz found in North America, as well as other exhibits.

Try rockhounding with guides at the two ranches available for hunting topaz. For more information, www.texas-topaz.com, or www.masontxcoc.com, 325-347-0475.
