The Mason County Museum reopened March 1 after a two month winter closing. The museum is now open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. If you haven’t been to the museum (or haven’t been there lately), you’re really missing a special treat. The museum is a vast collection of artifacts, stories, pictures, antiques, displays and more that describe how Mason County was settled and what life was like in Mason County during those settlement years. Spend as much or as little time as you have while you take a trip back in time. And don’t think you can see it all in one visit – there’s always something different to find!

The Museum is located at 505 Moody St. on the second floor. Special showing are available for large groups and bus tours. For special arrangements, call the Chamber of Commerce (347-5758) or Delores Keller at 347-6681.

The Mason County Historical Society is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization that promotes and maintains historical activities and artifacts related to Mason County. Fort Mason, the Mason County Museum, and the Mason Square Museum are all parts of the Historical Society. Membership is open to anyone interested in the history of Mason County. If interested in joining, you can contact Charles Pluenneke, Chair of the Membership Committee (347-5581). Dues are only $10 per person per year. Donations are also always welcomed.
