Looking for something different to do Labor Day weekend?

You are invited to visit a historic country school.

Crabapple School, one of the 15 historic country schools in Gillespie County will be open Saturday September 4, 11a.m. to 3p.m. The Crabapple school is located at 14671 Lower Crabapple Road.

This is one with original desks and blackboards that was active in the late 1800s: early 1900s, original building built in 1878. Former students and community members will be available to talk about school days gone by, after consolidation, and how buildings are maintained today.

Historical information on this school, located on the Gillespie County Country Schools Trail, a designated Nation Historical Register site, and travel information can be found at www.historicschools.org. Driving maps are available from the Fredericksburg Chamber Visitor Bureau at 302 E Austin St. This school is located within 5 miles from The Enchanted Rock. See you there.
