Ivy Lee Beam Bailey passed away on Tuesday, January 10, at the age of 63. Ivy was born in Mason on July 31, 1948, to G.P. Beam and Cora Lee Martin Beam. She was a graduate of Mason High School. On June 29, 1964, Ivy married Johnnie “Hoby” Bailey. Their marriage was blessed with three sons and two other boys who were like sons to Ivy and Hoby. They first lived in Mason and then moved to Junction for 13 years. In 1995 they moved back to Mason.Ivy loved to write and was known for her beautiful poetry, some of which is published in the Library of Congress. She also enjoyed spending time on Facebook. Ivy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who absolutely adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. However, she could be tough when needed. When the boys got out of line, she was known to pop them with a wet dish rag!Ivy is survived by her loving husband Johnnie “Hoby” Bailey Sr., three sons by birth Johnnie Bailey Jr. and wife Carla of Brady, Richard Bailey and wife Patricia of Sonora, Brandon Bailey of Mason and two boys who were like sons to her and Hoby: Terry Martin and Billy Bradshaw. She is also survived by three brothers G. P. Beam Jr. and wife Jody of Abilene, Wilbur Beam and wife Carol of Brady, John Beam and wife Bonnie of Mason, three sisters Lettie Faye Bailey and husband Milton of Mason, Lynne Maples and husband Bill of Leakey and Shirley LeFluer and husband Dean of Mason, eleven grandchildren: Lance Bailey and wife Tabitha, Amy Thompson and husband Jake, Wesley Atkinson and wife Adrianna, Amanda Atkinson and husband Jamie Baugh, Kelsey Atkinson, Misty Solis and husband J.R., Jovan Clifton, Rick Bailey and wife Carly Zamora, Tristan Bailey, Amber Bradshaw and Leslie Charles, and eight great-grandchildren Preston, Nicholas, Christopher, Cale, Kenzie, Faith, Mary Leeann and Ricky. She was preceded in death by her parents General Pershing Beam and Cora Lee Martin Beam.Funeral services were held on Friday, January 13, at 2:00 p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Airheart officiating. Interment followed in the Cavness Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Mason Funeral Home.
