The Wesley Nurse at First United Methodist Church invites you to take part in a free Lunch ‘N Learn program open to all citizens in the Mason area. The focus of the program is “How You Debrief Grief,” and the goal is to help participants face the loss of someone, or something dear to them. Grief is the emotional suffering that is felt after a loss of some kind and can be triggered for a variety of reasons: the death of a loved one, the onset of a serious medical condition, or even an intense disappointment can all cause grief. People are so often unprepared for grief, even when an event is predicted. Participants will learn that grief is actually a healing process that is normal and healthy. The featured speaker for this event is Patrick Loring, M.S., L.P.C., the bereavement coordinator for Odyssey Hospice in Kerrville, Texas. He has 25 years of professional counseling experience. Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Loring has created and implemented the first mortuary-based bereavement program in Texas, as well as, developed grief education curriculum for many healthcare and clergy professionals. The program will be held at the Methodist Church at 224 Broad St, on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring a sack lunch; beverages and dessert will be provided. For further questions or information, please call Ann Scarth, RN at 325-347-5983.About the Wesley Nurse Health Ministries™Wesley Nurse Health Ministries™ is a faith-based, holistic health and wellness program committed to serving the least served through education, health promotion and collaboration with the individual and community in achieving improved wellness through self-empowerment.
