The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday August 12th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 43 members and 8 visitors in attendance.

Lion Michael Cope was responsible for the program and introduced Sterling Jordan who spoke about his ancestors in the early 1800's. He told several interesting stories about the hard times they had to endure to feed their families and to just survive between disease, little food and Indian attacks these people and all the other early settlers had a very rough life. Sterling's recollection was printed in the August 13th edition of the Mason County News.

The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, August 19th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Pat Reardon and the program will be on the Texas Forest Service.

The Mason Lions Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
