If you have an obnoxious, out-of-control dog, at some time or another a well-meaning friend has probably said to you, “Have you ever watched The Dog Whisperer?” Shown on Travel Channel on Friday evenings (but of course not watched during football season - Go Punchers!!) it features Cesar Milan, who “trains people and rehabilitates dogs.” He applies a few simple techniques, and presto, you have a new, well-mannered dog.

What, you are probably asking at this point, does this have to do with St. Joseph’s enchilada dinner? Well, Mason has a whole crew of Enchilada Whisperers from last year’s dinner, and since every good movie has a sequel, I’m here to report that this Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Tina Cantu and her crew of Enchilada Whisperers will be again be serving 2 enchiladas, rice, beans, salad, tea and home-made desserts, for the astonishingly low price of $8.00 per dinner, at the Mason ISD cafeteria. Every sequel has to “punch up” the basic story from the first movie, and this year the dinner ticket also buys a chance on a flatscreen TV or $100 cash. Eat in or take-out, an Enchilada Whisperer dinner is a not-to-be missed event, so buy your tickets early at any bank in Mason, the Script Shoppe, or the Little Red Shack.

A new raffle will begin at the dinner - Wilburn Shearer has generously donated threee Mason topazes, which will be on view at the dinner. Tickets for the topaz raffle are $3.00 apiece, or 2 for $5.00, and the drawing will occur during Thanksgiving weekend. Prizes or no prizes, raffles or no raffles, the enchilada dinner by St. Joseph’s Enchilada Whisperers is one of Mason’s best values, so come early, ‘cuz they always sell out! See you there!
