The JV white team played very well against a very good Goldthwaite team. The backs ran the ball hard behind good blocking from the guys in the trenches. The defense played a very physical game and held strong against the Eagle Offense. The Punchers won 40-14.

7th vs. Eldorado The 7th grade had a true test as they traveled to Eldorado on Thursday. It was an evenly matched game from the beginning and truly gave our 7th graders a challenge. Throughout the game, defense was solid on both sides of the ball, not allowing either offense to really get anything going.

The Board of Directors of Operation Orphans, Inc. has selected four dates for doe hunts during the forthcoming whitetail season. They are the following Saturdays: October 25, November 15, December 6 and January 10. The October date will be an all girls’ hunt, while the remaining dates will be all boys’ hunts. This is the 55th year of the “Take a Child Hunting” program.

The Museum on the Square will have a special exhibit “Memories of Mason Christmases” during the month of December. This exhibit will spotlight German, Hill Country and/or Mason traditions and family heirlooms. We are looking for ornaments, photographs, cookie molds, recipes, linens, you name it - anything that has “memories” of the holidays.

The Menard/Kimble/Mason Unit of the TRTA will have its second meeting of the year on Tuesday, November 4, beginning at 11 in Fellowship Hall of Junction’s First Baptist Church located on the corner of 8th and Oaks Streets. The meeting will include a video of TRTA’s Foundation at work, a silent auction to raise a donation from our unit for the TRTA Foundation, and a baked potato bar and dessert for lunch.

Mason Elementary School Leaders are participating in a Giving Tree Service Project to TREAT OUR SOLDIERS!  Many soldiers overseas do not have access to everyday treats.  Each class, Pre-K through 4th grade, will be donating a box of treats to ship to soldiers overseas.  If you would like to help with this project, please send to the school. It has been a very wonderful experience for our students as well!

The Llano Country Opry will present “A Tribute To Patsy Cline” on Saturday, November 8, featuring Lisa Layne. Layne was the “Patsy Cline” in both the productions of “Always Patsy Cline” and “Just A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline.” She has performed in front of thousands and covered the entire country with her great ability to bring Patsy back to life.

Larry W. Scevers, age 72 of Lampasas, TX passed away October 22, 2014, at his home. Larry was born August 27, 1942 in Brady, TX, the son of Albert Washington Keith and Bessie Lorene Scevers. Larry was a teacher and a counselor for the LISD for many years. He had lived in Lampasas for the past 37 years. Mr. Richard “Dick” Hoerster of Fredericksburg passed away on Tuesday, October 21st at his residence at the age of 86 years.
