On March 24th, Mason Elementary School along with Alpha Beta Psi presented a training session on the book The 7 Habits of Happy Kids. The goal was to have at least 10% of the families of Mason Elementary Students attend the training, and that goal was achieved! All families present received a copy of the book, thanks to Alpha Beta Psi.

The Mason Study Club Silent Auction Items are on the move! In this photograph, Mary Carlman is wheeling the wheelbarrow full of garden necessities to its next location, The Commercial Bank. Along with the wheelbarrow, the other three items have also been moved. These include a bluebonnet painting by Sue Kaan, a colorful quilt by Pam Scott, and a Christian Fish made from a horseshoe in a limestone base by Penny Ruthven.

Patsy Ziriax has been kind enough to bring Crazy Quilt to the Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library for display. This beautiful quilt belonged to her aunt, Ruby Kettner. Patsy doesn’t think that her aunt made the quilt, but she remembers it being displayed on the bed in her aunt’s guest bedroom.

On Monday afternoon, Rebekah Whitworth was sworn in as Mason Conty Attorney, filling the unexpired term left by Shain Chapman's resignation to run for District Attorney. Mrs. Whitworth was joined at the ceremony by her family, and by many of the staff and elected officials of Mason County.

Three FAAHC artists still had jolly faces after a LONG day judging State VASE (Visual Art Scholastic Event) on April 4th. The event was held at the high school in Bryan, Texas. On Saturday, April 5th, the teachers and students arrived to view the show and enjoy the medal presentations. Nan Loeffler and Marcy Holmes-Wheeler judged 3D work and Dayna Fowler Haines judged 2D drawing and painting.

The Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library is sponsoring a blood drive to be held in the Stribling Room on Monday, April 21, from 2:00-6:00 P.M. This drive is an opportunity for people to give back to the community by giving the gift of life. About 25% of all blood is transfused to save the lives of cancer patients!

Mason County Judge, Jerry Bearden, has been honored by the Texas Judicial Academy for going the extra mile to be prepared to handle his duties as county judge.
