The Mason Volunteer Fire Department received a check for $150 recently from Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Companies as an expression of thanks for the department's work on the property of Sean Finn. The money will be used for their loss prevention program. The Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Companies pay fire departments this amount when the department works at a fire in rural areas, involving property insured by them. The cast and crew of “The Death and Life of Larry Benson” advanced to Region last Friday, becoming part of the top 144 plays out of over 1,200 (1A-6A) in the state. In the 2A classification, MHS is in the top 24. Individual honors were awarded to James Perlichek, Honorable Mention, Steeley Smith and Sara Powell, All Star Cast.

AUSTIN — April 14, 2015 — Members from the Central Hill Country Board of REALTORS®, representing Gillespie, Blanco, Mason, and Kimble Counties, were among more than 2,000 Texas REALTORS® who participated in the 2015 Texas REALTOR® Hill Visits on April 14 at the Texas Capitol. St. Joseph parishioners are ready to serve you their delicious BBQ Chicken with ALL of the trimmings this Sunday, April 26th! This is their 10th Annual Springfest Fundraiser and the serving begins at 11 AM in St. Joseph’s Hall located on the church grounds. The price per plate remains at a $10 donation.

Mason Garden Club had their Spring Plant Sale Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the Mason County Library. The sale was held by the Old Yella Statue and the blooming roses and blooming Spanish lavender, which were planted and cared for by the Mason Garden Club. There were a large variety of plants for sale, including vegetable, flowering, herbs, vines, perennials, small shrub starts, and house plants (some which clean the air in the house).

Once again members of the Mason community demonstrated their support for the library. Dozens of Mason residents along with several visitors in the area came to the library during the annual Friends of the Library Book and Bake sale. They purchased gently used books, CDs, DVDs and baked goods. Sales were brisk, buyers were generous and every penny will go directly to the library.

The Mason Tennis Association Tennis-A-Thon fundraiser was a smashing success in raising over $8000. The money will be used to improve our tennis center. Many of our tennis playing youth, ages 3 to 18, played tennis for 1 and 1/2 hours on March 22nd and acquired sponsors who donated money to them for playing. The top fundraiser for this event was 3rd grader Riley McBride, who raised $560.
