This Saturday is the 3rd Annual Mason Puncher Band Auction. It will be hosted live on KHLB 102.5 FM and held at the band hall. The boys JV basketball team lost a close hard fought game against San Saba last Tuesday 39-41. The game was tight from the very start. Both teams played hard. It came down to the last minute of the game and they deserve to win. On Friday the Punchers traveled to Center Point.

As part of its “Be Well with Diabetes” program, the Hill Country Memorial Wellness Center will host a seminar on managing the nutritional and health needs of those with diabetes from 9 a.m. to noon on Thurs., Feb. 5 in Fredericksburg. Certified diabetes educator Kim Thornton, RD, LD, will lead “Nutrition Management of Diabetes.” The seminar will cover the skills to help control blood sugars through dietary modification.

Dear Gerry, I’ll bet other people notice this: “...Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Obviously, we’re not telling God to shake a leg and get things done according to His standards right now, right here. So we must be talking to ourselves, acknowledging by our verbalization the understanding that we all have a very high purpose in life, to get God’s will, God’s standards, accomplished so that earth reflects heavenly standards.

I've been watching a Netflix series that originated on the History Channel called "How the States Got Their Shapes." It's a wonderful show that explains the strange, sad, tumultuous histories of how our nation was shaped. I've learned the stories behind Oklahoma's panhandle, California's odd bend; and, Pennsylvania's strange northern nub. Borders are important.

On Thursday, February 12, 2015, the annual Hochheim Prairie branch meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of Mason Bank. While all Hochheim Prairie members are invited, representatives from local community groups are asked to attend as well. Hochheim Prairie gives money back to our community every year for the members to distribute to organizations that are in need of extra funding for the upcoming year.

Vina Mae Adams Nail was born in Sonora, Texas, on October 3, 1934, and went to her heavenly home on January 21, 2015, in Junction. Family visitation was Thursday, January 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Kimble Funeral Home. Services were held at the First Presbyterian Church on Friday, January 23 at 2:00 p.m.
