The Arnold Art Gallery will feature the paintings of DeEtte Cobb, a Paris, Texas artist,beginning Friday, March 6 through March 31. The artist has been painting for over thirty years. Her love of color and its possibilities defines her art. With lots of colors and a good tool, she creates bright, imaginative impressionistic compositions.

The Mason County Chamber of Commerce will soon be offering a new and updated hunting lease listing that will be posted on our new website and distributed to hunters from all over the state of Texas. Those looking for a lease will find our new and upcoming website filled with useful information all in an easy to use format. The Mason County Chamber of Commerce receives on average 15 calls per week requesting a copy of this listing.

The Commercial Bank and Commercial Company, Inc. held its annual joint shareholders’ meeting on February 11, 2015. During that meeting Julio and Beatrice Ramon, Jim Heath, and Michael and Leslie Cope were elected to serve as Directors of the Board for The Commercial Bank. On January 7th, the Ramons, the Copes, and Kenneth Burow purchased Lee and Bobbie McMillan’s interest in the bank.

The Hill Country Astronomers (HCA) will meet at 6:30 PM, Monday, March 2, in the HEB meeting room at the Hill Country University Center in Fredericksburg. The 2nd Annual Northpoint Student Ministries Run4theSon 5k run/walk and Children’s 1K run will be held on Sat. April 25th, 2015, in Brady, TX, starting and finishing at Richard’s Park off Hwy 87. A month or so ago I complained about the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and their determination that the Sig Arm Brace for AR pistols is fine and dandy, as long as no one holds it in an Unauthorized Manner. Shooting with the gun held out so you can’t hit much with it is fine, but holding it to your shoulder, which offers stability and accuracy, is a Bad Thing.

Gary and Jeanne Hahn of Mason, love to teampen with the Bertram Team Penning Club. Gary won the 2014 champion saddle in the #3 class and Jeanne won the reserve champion buckle. Jeanne also won a buckle for being in the top 5 in the #5 class and Gary won the #3 champion buckle in the Allen Champlon annual teampenning competition.

Sometime during the weekend of February 14-15, vandals broke into the Seaquist House and defaced walls, wood work and masonry with spray paint. The Mason County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating the case. Donors have assembled a $1,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators. Tips can be called in to the Sheriff's Department at 325-347-5252, and the caller may remain anonymous.

During the SNIA Annual Members' Symposium, Nancy Clay of Mason was named as recipient of the prestigious Deborah K. Johnson Memorial Award. Mrs. Clay is the SNIA Education Program Manager, and the award cited her tireless devotion to the SNIA Tutorial Program. Nancy has managed SNIA Tutorial tracks and speakers for so many years that Tutorials are almost synonymous with her name, according to her supervisors.
