The Punchers face off with the Shiner Comanches in Leander, Texas, at 7:30 pm on Friday, November 22, 2013. The game is at the Bible Memorial Stadium 3301 S. Bagdad Road. Terry Hensley and her husband Chuck attended the Mary Kay Seminar in Dallas where Terry represented her unit of 175 consultants in the $450,000 Unit Club. Terry joined Mary Kay in 1981 as a consultant and became a director in 1988. She is currently driving her 10th pink Cadillac. When asked why she and her husband decided to move from San Antonio to Mason three years ago, she responded, "Chuck and I were wanting a small town that had the same values with which we both grew up.

Lone Star Swing, from Austin, Texas, will bring their fun, hot Texas swing to the Odeon theater in Mason, Texas Saturday August 23. The band plays an energetic blend of western swing, jazz, and traditional country music that will have you tapping your toes and dancing in the aisles. Lone Star Swing includes an all-star lineup of musicians including Rick McRae, Terry Hale, Paul Glasse, Billy Curtis and Gary Hartman.

It is that time of the year again when we order state validation tags for sheep, goats and breeding sheep. Please let the Extension Office know how many tags your family will be needing as soon as possible. The tag orders will be mailed in on August 27th. The cost of each tag will be $11.00, so be sure to get an accurate count, as you will be responsible for paying for all tags that you order.

Dear Mason Puncher Fans, 2014 football season is almost upon us! Two-A-Days start soon, back-to-school items are being advertised on TV, and the Mason Punchers have a new, improved tunnel for the players to run through. As the last playoff game of 2013 proved, neither snow, nor sleet, nor hail deters the tunnel crew from showing their school spirit.

Nancy Sterling is the Artist of the Month at the Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library. Her work will be exhibited throughout the month of August. Nancy is originally from Ohio, but she has lived in Arizona, California, and Virginia before finally coming to Texas. Nancy stated, “I try to capture beauty in painting using oil, water color, pencil and colored pencil and recently began using acrylic.

On Friday, August 15, at 6:30 pm, the Hilda Community Club will host an ice cream social. The guest speaker at the event will be Steve Toone, speaking about the Patriot Warrior Foundation. Steve is an active member of the The Patriot Warrior Foundation which is a non-profit 501 (C) (3) organization which provides morale boosting events for America’s wounded and injured Veterans and their families.

Our Summer Meltdown Challenge is still in full swing. The drawing for the July monthly winners will be this week. The Challenge will wrap up on August 15th with a covered dish luncheon at River of Life Church-more news to come on the luncheon. New monthly activity tracking cards for August will be available from the leaders at the end of this week (they will be blue).

We are so excited to announce that we will be starting a Mother’s Day Out program called, Kingdom Kids, at River of Life Church. Our mission is to provide a loving, Christ centered environment where children are nurtured and mothers needs are met. The program will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m.

The Area Agency on Aging is pleased to provide three remaining opportunities for individuals in our community to come learn more about the Star+Expansion. The first presentation was held at the Concho Valley Council of Governments Training Center on Wednesday, July 23rd at 1:30 pm with 24 people in attendance.
