Georgie is an adorable 5 lb Chihuahua that was picked up by animal control and no one has come to claim him. He has some super long toenails and A LOT of fleas, but with a day at the doggie spa he will be ready to go! Glacier National Park is located in Montana (state motto: Up here! Next to Canada!), where there are still wild animals. Really wild animals. You rarely see really wild animals down here in Central Texas anymore, although we do have a few mounatin lions, and some have reported seeing the odd jaguarundi here and there lately.

There is no such thing as having enough MANNERS! When my boys were young, I would pull on my right earlobe to spur a “THANK YOU!” My right earlobe is still longer than my left one, too! Those sweet three words often get replaced, too! Every mother's head turns with the word “MOMMA!” One time when Happy couldn’t get my attention from the dugout, he yelled, “JANE!” Now, that got my attention!

The Mason Lions club met Tuesday, July 22nd, for its regular weekly meeting. There were 29 members and ten visitors in attendance. Lion Dave Benefield was responsible for the program and introduced Justin McFarland, Daryl Watson and Chad Barnet. They entertained the club with some bluegrass music to everyone's delight. Dave played the banjo, Justin was on the guitar, Daryl on the mandolin, and Chad on a "cigar box"

Vacation Bible School starts on Monday, July 28th and ends on Friday. Tyra Jordan is collecting money to purchase food and snacks for the children and workers. I spent 2 days this week teaching about food safety for restaurant managers. Since I have food safety on the brain, I thought I might share some tips for handling those delicious fresh fruits and vegetables that are in abundance right now. Just remember that when you slice into a fruit or veggie, everything that is on the outside of it will be transferred all through the middle by the knife.

Terry Hensley and her husband Chuck attended the Mary Kay Seminar in Dallas where Terry represented her unit of 175 consultants in the $450,000 Unit Club. Terry joined Mary Kay in 1981 as a consultant and became a director in 1988. She is currently driving her 10th pink Cadillac. When asked why she and her husband decided to move from San Antonio to Mason three years ago, she responded, "Chuck and I were wanting a small town that had the same values with which we both grew up.
