Dear Gerry, I’ll bet other people notice this: “...Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Obviously, we’re not telling God to shake a leg and get things done according to His standards right now, right here. So we must be talking to ourselves, acknowledging by our verbalization the understanding that we all have a very high purpose in life, to get God’s will, God’s standards, accomplished so that earth reflects heavenly standards.

I've been watching a Netflix series that originated on the History Channel called "How the States Got Their Shapes." It's a wonderful show that explains the strange, sad, tumultuous histories of how our nation was shaped. I've learned the stories behind Oklahoma's panhandle, California's odd bend; and, Pennsylvania's strange northern nub. Borders are important.

On Thursday, February 12, 2015, the annual Hochheim Prairie branch meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of Mason Bank. While all Hochheim Prairie members are invited, representatives from local community groups are asked to attend as well. Hochheim Prairie gives money back to our community every year for the members to distribute to organizations that are in need of extra funding for the upcoming year.

Students achieving the Dean’s List for the 2014 fall semester have been announced by Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must be enrolled fulltime at ASU and must maintain a 3.25 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale. February 3 will be a hot time for great basketball and tasty pancakes at the games in Mason. Be sure to hold onto your appetite until you get to the game where the Mason Lions Club will be sponsoring their annual pancake supper to raise funds for all the worthy Lions' projects.

Jonah is responsible for the state non-game mammal research and conservation and operates out of Boerne.

Vina Mae Adams Nail was born in Sonora, Texas, on October 3, 1934, and went to her heavenly home on January 21, 2015, in Junction. Family visitation was Thursday, January 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Kimble Funeral Home. Services were held at the First Presbyterian Church on Friday, January 23 at 2:00 p.m.

Kegan Lee Schmidt of Llano and Mason, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, at the age of 23. A Memorial Service celebrating Kegan’s life was held on Tuesday, January 27, at 2:00 p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel. Survivors include his parents Sid Schmidt of Mason and Kalyn Kothmann of Llano, a brother Kaleb Schmidt and fiancé Emily of Tempe, Arizona, his grandmother Mary Schmidt, of Mason and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The Odeon theater in Mason will host a special Valentine day show featuring The Divas from San Angelo Saturday February 14 at 7:00 PM. Guest will be treated with Valentine chocolates and a bubbly beverage. But the special treat is the sweet sounds of the The Divas. Their harmonies are like candy for the ears. The word “diva” has been used to describe distinguished female singers such as Aretha Franklin, Barbara Streisand, Ella, and Celine.

February 21-22, six Mason High School students, along with about 100 other students from six other counties, came together at the Texas State Capitol for the Pioneer Leadership Forum. During this time, they were recognized by the House of Representatives and the State Senate, and received the opportunity to present their ideas to help our state to the Water Conservation Board, Texas Department of Agriculture, and the Texas Education Agency.
