We would like the community to line the streets around the square and all the way out the Brady Highway. The Puncher Club has been a major supporter of all Mason sports, both boys and girls, for years.

Christmas is a special time of year when we get together with our most cherished friends and family members, along with the people we have to put up with in order to get to see our most cherished friends and family members. This is why I get invited to stuff – people want to see my wife, and they can’t invite her without letting me come, too.

Albert and Shirley Keyser were named Outstanding Conservation Rancher for 2014 by the Mason County Soil and Water Conservation District. Mr. and Mrs. Keyser run a ranch in the loyal Valley community. They have always been conservation minded. They practice proper grazing techniques and rotate cattle to allow rest periods for the grass.

The Mason Museum on the Square is celebrating Christmas. Last week the “Mason County News” showed a photograph of antique and vintage Christmas decorative items on loan by Pam Spiller, daughter of Wilburn (“Wibby”) & Faye Shearer. These items will take us all back in time from the Snow Village to the Santa Claus faces.

The Mason Study Club held its Annual Christmas Party on the evening of December 11 at the lovely home of Gene and Nan Larrimore. A walk through the Larrimore home will certainly put you in the Christmas spirit where you will find a Christmas tree in every room! The Social Committee is responsible for organizing the Christmas Party and they did a superb job.

Mary Kyle Ritchey, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, mentor and friend, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2014, in Mason, Texas, at the age of 68. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Pearl Underwood and by her sister, Carol Henry. She is survived by her husband, Mike Ritchey DVM, daughters Jennifer Wofford and husband Kurt, Jo Lynn Joyce DVM and husband Wade Everitt, Shannon Dezell and husband Sean and by her brother, John Underwood and wife Gail.

James Taylor Virdell, Sr. was born in Rochelle, Texas, January, 22, 1924, the first child of James Clarence Virdell and Annie Myrtle Taylor Virdell. In 1936, he moved with his family to Llano where he has lived since that time. After high school, he served 38 months in the Army Air Corp as an Aerial Engineer on B-25 bombers.

The City of Mason will be closed Wednesday and Thursday December 24th and 25th for the Christmas Holidays. Trash trucks will run and pick up as scheduled Monday, Tuesday and Friday (December 22, 23, and 26). Wednesday trash pickup, December 24, will be on Tuesday December 23rd. Thursday trash pickup, December 25, will be on Friday December 26th.

2014 is a strange year. It's not a leap year, February only had 28 days. December 31 will be the 365th day of the year, so no different than any other normal year. But, we have an interesting phenomenon that's going to occur this year. The newspaper this week is the 51st issue of 2014.

Cy Nobles a third grader at Mason Elem killed this 14 point buck on his grandparent's ranch south of Brady this past weekend. Cy is the son of Brandi Nobles, and grandson of Willie Carter and the late Tina Carter of Mason.

The Mason Lions club met Tuesday, December 9th, for its regular weekly meeting. There were 33 members and two visitors in attendance. Among the visitors were two Mason High School seniors, Mireya Angel Escamilla and Tyler Pawvlik. Lion Jess Irwin was responsible for the program and he spoke about the United States Constitution.
