Dick Polk of Mason passed away on Monday June 21, 2010, at the age of 82. Dick was born in Mason on March 21, 1928, to Ned and Bessie Polk. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1949. On September 16, 1950, he married Lila Jo Chew. He worked at the Union Stock Yard in San Antonio before serving his country in the Army.
Elroy Brown of Mason passed away on Tuesday June 22, 2010, at the age of 73. Elroy was born in Mason on November 1, 1936, to C.L. and Annie Brown. He married Sarah Atchley. Elroy could build anything from kitchen cabinets to stepping stones. He enjoyed hunting, golf, fishing and hunting for arrowheads.
Mrs. Wanda Hurley Jacques, of Camp Air, passed away on Friday, June 18 at the age of 80. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, July 2 from 6-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 3 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mason.

Wanda Hurley Jacques of Camp Air passed away on Friday, June 18, 2010 at the age of 80. Wanda was born in Katemcy on May 8, 1930 to Arthur and Myrtle Hurley. She graduated from Mason High School in 1947 and San Marcos University in 1951 with a degree in music. Mr. John Dalton Fleming of Mason passed away on Wednesday, June 9 at the age of 76. He was born in Mason County on July 20, 1933, to John Alton Fleming and Annie Lee Cowsert Fleming. John went to Fly Gap School and Mason schools where he participated in track and agriculture. On August 19, 1954, he married Lou Ellen Simon.

Charles Edward Banta, age 69, passed away on Sunday May 30, 2010. Charles "Charlie" was born in Fredericksburg, Tx, on September 12, 1940, to Eugene Mordell Banta and Sadie Belle Schuessler Banta. He had three half sisters from his father’s first marriage and he was the only child from his father’s second marriage. Charlie met his future wife, Connie Barton, at Union Baptist Church in Field Creek, where he was a member at the time.
Glenda D. Phillips, sister of Gary Garner, born October 21, 1945, passed away on June 6, 2010, in San Antonio after a long illness. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, at Sunset Funeral Home in San Antonio. Funeral Services will be on Thursday at 9 a.m.
