Thirty one players took part in this year’s golf tournament at Comanche Creek Golf Course on March 6th. Teeing off at 1:30 under overcast conditions the temperature was just about perfect for golf. The winds stayed relatively calm for most of the tournament but picked up towards the end of the afternoon with just a bite to make sure you stayed covered.

The 5th and 6th grade girls basketball team spent 5 weekends participating in the Llano Little Dribblers Leaque. They were undefeated and placed first. 6th graders are: Heather Shaw, Monaco Schmidt, Madison Anderson, Kayla Guice, Katy Armstrong, Shelby Comey and Amber Hengst. 5th graders are: Steeley Smith, Justyn Tedder, Kenley Stockbridge, Jodie Evans and Sara Powell.
Junior Shayla Estes, Freshman Margaret Lemke, Senior Tantha Lange, Sophomore Kaitlyn Cavness, and Senior Lyndsi Clark were named as first team all district in basketball. Shayla Estes was also named Co-Offensive MVP, Lyndsi Clark Defensive MVP, and Margaret Lemke Newcomer of the Year.
The Mason Punchers competed in the Ingram Warrior Golf Invitational this past week and took 5th place honors with a score of 441. Jayton Henrich lead the Punchers with a round of 102 placing 14th as over all medalist. They competed over all pretty good against teams our size but fell short to the AAA schools.
The Mason Tennis Association’s 9th annual Tennis-A-Thon will take place on the afternoon of Sunday, March 28th, at the Mason Tennis Center. This fundraiser helps repay the loans to improve our tennis center. The tennis playing youth of our community are taking part in this event by participating in tennis drills, games and competitions for 1 1/2 hours on March 28th, and by obtaining sponsors who pledge a certain amount of money for each minute the participant’s team plays ...

The 8th Boys finished out their basketball season last Monday evening as they took on the visiting boys from Miles. Although they came up short in this game against Miles, the Punchers wrapped up the championship with a 10-4 overall record, and a 8-2 district record. These young men continued to get better everyday.
Four schools turned out for the Cowgirl Invitational Golf Tournament on February 18th. As with the boy’s basketball, the Cowgirls were unable to field team. The morning turned out cold but quickly warmed up by the end of the round. Ingram and Brady both tied with team scores of 487. Ingram won the tie using the 5th players score for a playoff. Jenny Smith of Mason was First medalist with a score of 105.
Six schools turned out on February 15th, for the Mason Puncher Invitational Golf Tournament. Yes, it was a very cold and blustery day. You know when there is ice in the ditches that it is cold outside and not a good day for the faint of heart golfer. Representing the area schools were; Mason, Brady, Ingram, Llano and Menard.

The 2010 tennis season got off to a quick start this past weekend as Mason hosted the Puncher Shootout Tournament. Teams from Midland, Wimberley, Marble Falls, Boerne, Kerrville, and Fredericksburg gathered here to get their first taste of tennis. Mason still had several of its top boys and girls competing in basketball, but was still able to pull off a sixth place finish.

The 8th Grade Punchers have been hard at it in the past couple of weeks. After coming off a third place tournament win in Llano, the Punchers hosted their own Invitational with Llano, Nueces Canyon, and Junction with four divisions. In the 8th Boys division, Junction took on Llano in game one and advanced after a 32-12 win.
