Monday's rains, though only very briefly heavy, dropped 0.6 of rain in less than 15 minutes, causing a quick runoff of the rainfall around the area. This shot at Ft. Mason City Park shows the water running down the side of the golf course and across the road leading to the stadium.

The Hilda United Methodist Church held a groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday afternoon, February 28, 2010, at the site of their new parsonage. Herbert Loeffler, in cap, is the Advisory Council Chair and was Chairman on the Parsonage Planning Committee. Stephen Stengel, in cowboy hat, is the Parsonage Building Chairman, acting as liaison between the church and Tilson.
Mason artist, Robin E. Clark, was recently invited to exhibit her work in a show titled, "Journeys: Photographs from Around the World." The show, on display through the end of February, was sponsored and presented by The International Cultural Center of Texas Tech University, Lubbock. Clark was one of ten artists invited to participate in the show. Army Staff Sgt. Alan Layne Stafford has returned to Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska after being deployed to Afghanistan for one year. The soldier is one of 3,500 members of the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division stationed at Fort Richardson. Airborne combat team members included soldiers assigned to one of six battalions and regiments of the 25th Infantry Division. The Riata Service Organization met Feb. 23 at the home of Amy Capps with Brenda Kothmann as co-hostess. 27 members braved the snow and cold weather to attend the meeting. The guest speaker, Rosemary Davis, gave a interesting talk entitled "Collecting Family Memories". Step 2 in Al-Anon: "Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity." "What does insanity mean? I grew up with the disease of alcoholism, and so insanity boils down to "fear"—an emotion that drives the disease of alcoholism. Fear still has the power to overshadow the simplest activities, and turn them into dreadful events.
Acclaimed author and inspirational speaker Lisa Wingate was special guest speaker at the February 15 meeting of the Mason Bluebonnet Study Club. Mrs. Wingate has thirteen books published with another due to come out in July. She is also much in demand as an ispirational speaker. She lives near Dallas. The author chose as her subject, her book entitled The Summer Kitchen which was published in July 2009.
