The Mason Community Foundation is currently seeking grant applications from Mason non-profit organizations for the current cycle that ends September 1, 2010. The profits from the Community Thrift Store, which is run by the Foundation, have continued to be very strong, and therefore the Board set aside significant funds to provide for these grants.
The class of 1948 had a reunion on May 29, 2010, at The Old Peanut Mill Steak House in Mason. The following class members were in attendance. The Girl Scouts of Central Texas has opportunities for volunteers who are committed to helping girls develop courage, confidence, and character. Volunteers are the heart and soul of Girl Scouting-whether you have an hour, a day, a weekend, or more, Girl Scouts has an opportunity that’s right for you. Specifically, Mason County Girl Scouts are in need of dedicated adults to take on the role of troop leaders.
The Peter’s Prairie School Community Association offers a place to hold reunions, parties, showers, meetings and the likes. The nearly 100 year old Peter’s Prairie Schoolhouse is ready for use. It is located 10.5 miles north of Mason - just half a mile south the intersection of US Hwy. 87 and Ranch Road 1222 at Camp Air, Texas. The building has approximately 1725 square feet of space inside and is handicap friendly.
Molly Mooney, a resident of Fredericksburg, is the 2010/2011 Public Relations Chairman for the Fine Arts Association of the Hill Country. Her special interest is oil painting landscapes. Her work was represented and sold at this year’s GALA and ART SHOW.
August 13-15, 2010 Bible Baptist Church of Mason sponsored a daily Church Revival. With special Guest Preacher/Speaker Dr. Lonnie Shipman. Born into a musical family, Lonnie Shipman began piano at age five, studying with his mother, who was head of the Piano Department for Arlington Baptist College and Bible Baptist Seminary. After salvation at age six, Lonnie was raised in a Baptist pastor’s home and studied to be a concert pianist, winning numerous piano competitions and tour ...

Over 500 Hill Country energy consumers gathered in the Fredericksburg High School Auditorium on August 17, as Central Texas Electric Co-op hosted its 63rd Annual Members’ Meeting. CEO Robert A. Loth III welcomed them and introduced Board President Michael Randolph nine other CTEC directors in attendance. Dr. Don Higginbotham, pastor of First Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, provided an invocation. The business of the meeting included the election of four directors.
