The Riata Civic Committee met at the home of Willeda Rea on January 27 to sample recipes for their annual luncheon. The luncheon will be held in May. Mason City Manager John Palacio spoke to members of the Bluebonnet Study Club on Monday, January 16. His first topic was the new reverse osmosis water system located on the grounds of the Richard P. Eckert Center. He told the group that water that has been cleaned of radium and other impurities is available to Mason residents free of charge now.
RV Care-A-Vanners is a volunteer program for anyone who travels in a recreational vehicle, wants to build Habitat houses and have fun doing it. There are four groups of volunteers who will begin arriving in Mason on February 12th. The last work day is scheduled for Friday, April 20th. The following is the schedule for the dates the Care-A-Vanners will be working and the number of workers expected.- 6 workers arrive Sunday 2/12, last work day Friday 2/24; - 19 workers arrive Sunday 2/26, last ...
The Mason Garden Club had a work day at the M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library on January 24. As one of their projects, the club voted to help take care of the flower beds at the library. It was especially nice that right after they finished their work, it started raining.
Mason is called the Gem of the Hill Country, and the Mason County M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library could be called the Gem of Mason County. If you haven’t been there lately, stop by! There are new windows and new furniture. There are ten computers available for public use, with free WiFi.
On behalf of the author, Rosemary Poole-Carter, Beth Reardon presents the author’s books to Rio Schmidt and Mari Marquez, junior class officers, as a gift to the high school English Department. The book, a fiction story, is set in the post-civil war South. The junior AP class, taught by Mrs.
The first spring meeting for the Mason Study Club was held on January 25th in the Stribling Room of the Library. A delicious lunch was served by the hostesses, Carol Holmes, Claudia Farenthold, Nanci Gibbons, and Sue Kaan. President Linda Kesler welcomed the members attending and introduced the newest member, Karen Olson.
Kimble Schuessler, 10 year old son of Chapel and Shelly Schuessler of Llano, showed the Grand Champion Steer at the Llano County Jr. Livestock Show. Grandparents are Pam Spiller – Mason, John and Gena Schuessler – Llano. Great-grand parents Wilburn and Faye Shearer – Mason, John H. and Dorothy Schuessler – Castell and Lee and Annette Ussery – Marble Falls.
