A Health and Wellness Program Offered by the Wesley Nurse Health Ministries
The Wesley Nurse at First United Methodist Church invites you to take part in a free Lunch ‘N Learn program open to all citizens in the Mason area. The focus of the program is “How You Debrief Grief,” and the goal is to help participants face the loss of someone, or something dear to them.
During the Christmas Holidays the members and spouses/friends enjoyed a wonderful dinner and ornament exchange at the home of Paul and Judy Branch. A special thanks for their hospitality and to Paul and Craig Conlee for cooking the meat. The members provided side dishes.We are excited about the spring meetings.
The Women’s Auxiliary to the Texas Sheep and Goat Raiser’s Association, Hill Country Chapter are once again offering scholarship opportunities to area high school seniors and current university juniors, seniors and graduate students. Deadline to apply is April 1 and no late applications will be accepted. Applications can be obtained at the local high school counselor’s office or by e-mail to charlotte.kneupper@comfort.txed.net or kneupper@hctc.net.
At their January 9th meeting the Friends of the Library made a $3,000 donation to the Library for book purchases. The Library purchases 8 to 12 books each week and spends $7,000 to $8,000 a year to keep current material in our collection. Have you noticed the new book section in the Library?

The winners in Short Stop's Big Buck Contest, sponsored by owner Charlie Reichenau, have been announced and the winners have recieved their prizes.
There will NOT be an American Legion meeting on Thursday, January 12th. For information concerning the programs and/or operation of The American Legion Fort Mason Post #285, please contact Lawrence Spell, 1st Vice Commander, 429-6224, or Mike Shanley, 347-9016. The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, January 3rd, for its monthly business meeting. There were 31 members and three visitors in attendance. "Boss" Lion Kirby Groves was responsible for the program, and Secretary/Treasurer Gene Gammill read the minutes and gave the financial report.The Pancake Supper, which will be Friday, January 13th, was discussed.
The Mason ISD Mentor Program is under new leadership. Lisa Heath assumed this role in September and is working with Shanda Schmidt, elementary and Jr. High Counselor.Lisa is the daughter of Terry and Marilyn Keese. She graduated from Mason High School and received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Texas A&M.
The FUMC United Methodist Women officers were installed January 8th by Myrtle Wade for the year of 2012. Officers are President Tiffany Klaerner, Vice President Nancy Kramer, Secretary Carmen Bauer and Treasurer Linda McFarland.
