MASON - Sixth-graders in Beth Smith’s science classes at Mason Junior High School are hunting down the culprits that waste energy in their homes and stopping them dead in their tracks.Through an energy investigation program called PowerHouse™, representatives from Central Texas Electric Cooperative taught the students how to identify the energy wasters in their homes and provided simple solutions to help them use less energy and conserve natural resources.

The people of Mason support their library and they read ! Last week the Friends of the Library sold more than 3,000 books and scores of baked items, and we could not have done it without the generosity of this community! Many thanks to those who donated books, those who made purchases and cash donations and those who volunteered, including Friends of the Library Board members and Library Board members.

Buying land, building homes, farming and ranching were common place in and around Fredonia in the early 1900’s. Hard work and routine were the usual at this time. There was an event that dirsrupted the smooth ritual of country living. In 1906 during the time T.P. Wood was postmaster, the post office was robbed!
The Mason Bluebonnet Study Club is a member of Alamo District of Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs which is a part of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, an international service organization headquartered in Washington, DC. The Mason Bluebonnet Study Club will meet on Monday, April 16, in the Richard P.
There will be planning meeting for students and their parents who are interested in traveling to Washington, DC in June of 2013. Students eligible for the trip are those who are in the 6th and 7th grades at the present time. Students from Brady, Lohn, Rochelle and Mason are invited to attend the meeting.
Prior to reading the novel Night by Elie Wiesel, the English II AP students at Mason High School compiled a Holocaust scrapbook after completing a web quest that explored the events preceding the Holocaust, the effects of the Holocaust, the concentration camps, and survivor stories. These projects are displayed in the Gipson Room (foyer) of the Mason County M.
The Wesley Nurse at First United Methodist Church invites you to take part in a free caregiver support group series open to all residents in the Mason area. The series will extend over a six week period and will provide caregiver support sessions, as well as, practical learning experiences that will improve participants’ ability to care for their loved ones.
The year was 1952 and Mason’s very first baseball team included 10, 11, and 12 year old boys. Lions Club sponsored this 1952 team, who ended their season at the top of their division, above teams from San Saba, Llano, and Fredericksburg. In 1952 the community of Mason was extraordinarily supportive of their youth baseball program, and the community support continues today.
