I wanted to drop a quick note to all the people that voted and supported me during the contest. Though I was unable to advance to the next round, I was truly honored and felt extremely blessed to have received the amount of support from everyone. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Marissa Carter

Editor: Last Christmas, a misinformed reader wrote in condemning the term "Xmas," incorrectly implying that it was un-Christian and therefore disrespectful. Wonder how many people know where the term "Easter" comes from? It is derived from "Eostre," the Teutonic goddess of spring and fertility (hence, bunnies and eggs). Talk about un-Christian and disrepectful!

Gerry, Thankfully, Mr. Kemp’s Morality is not yet the Law of the land...nor is the Federal Government the Enforcement Arm of his, or any other, Church. Under our (Secular) form of Government, the Supreme Court gets to decide what falls under the Constitution. They did so, with Roe vs. Wade....

This letter is in response to two letters in last week's paper regarding women's reproductive issues. That old homily that women should keep their legs crossed just infuriates me. How about men should keep their zippers zipped. If all life is sacred why do we have so many people facig execution on Death Row?

OK, Gerry, I stated recently that Mr. Herbert Goff no longer facets gems. Mr. Goff called me, and assured me that he still cuts our wonderful topaz. So here I am, correcting my mistake. I am so glad to hear that Mr. Goff still produces gems. That means that the tradition is still continuing.

Gerry: I would like you to publish this letter In this week’s paper.I read with interest & some dismay the letter by Diane Eames in last week’s MCN. In it she accuses the Texas state legislature of wanting to restrict access to healthcare for women by requiring a sonogram prior to getting an abortion.
I had already been watching the storms on radar on Monday afternoon, so I knew that the clouds were building, and that they were moving our direction. I saw them intensify over Roosevelt and Junction, and started getting weather alerts on Weatherbug.I started hearing the "chatter" on the scanner as the dispatcher updated emergency personnel to the approaching weather system.

Editor: About two weeks ago, I read an article in the Junnction Eagle by James Murr titled “Do We Need A Watermaster”. In my effort to muster opposition to such an appointment, I was absolutely stunned at the lack of readership of our local papers. I found that about one out of ten read the article and then dismissed the theory because they did wish to really learn what a Watermaster is all about.

Women & Children In Response To The Rambling Article on Children and WomenAfter reading the article on "Children and Women" it is certainly easy to see that the woman with rocks in her head is most definitely confused. And she has all the A, B, C's after her name to prove it.In the beginning "God created the heavens and earth and then "He"

You could already see it happening at the end of last week... the kids were smiling, and their parents were planning. They were all thinking about spring break, and what they would be doing. On Facebook, I've already seen photos from the coast, the ski resorts, the lakes and the amusement parks.
