Wow! What a busy month we have planned. First off, I want to introduce myself. I am Jennifer Moore, the new Mason County Chamber of Commerce, Executive Director. I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Tyler Moore, for 11 years now. We have 3 boys: Colton 10, Landyn 7, and Case 4.

The Fredericksburg Chorale will present its New Works Concert, The Song of Nature, on Saturday, February 6 at 3 PM at St. Joseph’s Halle, 212 W. San Antonio. This concert is entirely devoted to newly written works by local composers. In this case, all the works were written by members of the Chorale or by Mark Hierholzer, the Chorale’s director. Wednesday, February 10 at 6:30, THE ODEON THEATER will be offering a free film about mature love as part of the ongoing community enrichment series of free documentary films. There is no charge for the film. The film THE AGE OF LOVE, shows us that love is a vital energy needed by all humans and the search for love knows know age.

The Mason Study Club held its January meeting on the 27th in the Stribling Room of the Mason County Library. A soup and salad lunch was provided by our hostesses, Lynn Hedges (chairman), Jean Dudney, Mary Polk and Jan Appleby. Riata held their January meeting in the Stribling Room with hostesses Becky Griffith and Carol Dyal. We were fortunate to have John Davis as our guest speaker. John enlightened us with how to preserve our history through oral interviews. John spent more than 40 years helping to craft the nations view of Texas.

Harpeth Rising, a Louisville Kentucky based trio, is set to take the stage at the Odeon Theater in Mason, Texas Saturday February 27, at 7:30 PM. The all-female group features original music and lyrics, three-part vocals and instrumentals of banjo and violin mixed with cello and foot percussion. Their music is an exciting mix of musical genres that include folk, rock, bluegrass, classical and roots music.

Small towns are tagged, stereotypically, as being places where nothing ever happens and there's nothing to do. Obviously the folks that think that haven't taken a look around at everything that goes on every week in towns like Mason. I think the failure to realize the broad range of events and experiences that are available often has to do with not recognizing some things as being public events.

Students achieving the Dean’s List for the 2015 fall semester have been announced by Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must be enrolled fulltime at ASU and must maintain a 3.25 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
