The JV Purple defeats the Junction Eagles by a score of 45-0. This gives the Punchers a 6-1 record on the year with a 3-0 district record. Their next game will be a road trip against Brackett. Kickoff is at 6:00 on Thursday October 23.

The Heart of Texas Country Music Association is proud to announce two special shows-an afternoon concert and an evening dance at the Heart of Texas Events Center on Saturday, October 25. The concert begins at 2:30 PM and the evening dance begins at 8:00 PM until Midnight. Darrell McCall, Justin Trevino, Rance Norton, Benny Deeds, Mona McCall and Jade Jack will fill the building with great music.

Becca is a very sweet 1 year old female brown tabby that we rescued from the pound. She has been in one of our foster homes for a little over a month now, and according to her foster mom this is a fantastic cat. Becca is very social. She loves to have you scratch her chin or behind her ears.

Thanks to a call received from a very kind gentleman here in Mason that wishes to remain anonymous, Melany Canfield and the generosity of many Masonites, the Chamber of Commerce is accepting dresses for girls who would like to go to the Queen’s Coronation but cannot afford a new dress.

The local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity has been hard at working organizing the warehouse in preparation for a warehouse sale to be held on Saturday, November 1st. The warehouse is located at 125 Broad Street, just one block north of the courthouse. The sale will start at 9:00 a.m.

Cub Scout Pack #281 took a field trip to the Mason Square Museum on Monday evening, October 20th. The Cub Scouts are Wyatt Westbrook, Raymond McDonald, Corbin Martinez and Jaxson Reichenau. Raymond’s sister, Maegan, joined the Pack to tour the Museum. The Pack leaders are Kendrah McDonald and C B Martinez.

The Hext Volunteer Fire Department is having their annual fundraiser on Saturday, October 25th at the old school house in Hext. We are having a fish dinner with all the trimmings, dessert and tea or coffee. There will also be a raffle with six guns and about 60 other prizes. Tickets are $1 each and will be available at the fundraiser.

Tommy Lee Clay of Mason, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 15, at the age of 76. Visitation was Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 18, at 11:00 a.m. at River of Life Church in Mason. Burial was in the Gooch Cemetery in Mason, Texas on Monday, October 20, at 2:00 p.m.

Terry McMillan of Edwards County passed away after a long battle with cancer Tuesday, October 14, 2014. He was born Sept. 6, 1944 to L.H. “Hoppy” and Roberta Owen McMillan. Terry was an avid rancher, carrying the legacy of his father and grandfather, he was one of the finest horsemen and cattlemen around.

Grace Christian School was pleased to share some time with CJ Burford last week. CJ spoke to our school during our morning devotional time and shared his amazing story. CJ is 9 years old and is actually a seasoned fund raiser for causes dear to him. At 6 years old, he heard a song and a Bible verse from Colossians 3:23 “ Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord” which inspired him to think of what he could do for the Lord.
