Balmorhea State Park has a resident cat named Tripod. At least that’s what I called him. He came by our campsite at the park looking for handouts. He evidently lost his right hind leg somehow and ended up on welfare at the park, which is pretty convenient for him. Who wouldn’t feed a three-legged cat? Leret and I stopped overnight at Balmorhea on our way to Yellowstone National Park, via Tucson.

Recently, I was asked if I knew of the London Hammer that was found in the early 1930’s and I ask questions and even went to Google and googled it up to study. However, I knew some of the history of the find year’s earlier but had forgotten it till I was reminded of it a month or so ago. What I knew was that the hammer was found encrusted within a rock formation in Red Creek just up from the Yates Crossing on Hwy.

I’m not an ice cream eater, but when I’m told the brand I would buy if I were an ice creamer eater was taken out of the coolers, it makes me want ICE CREAM! It’s like the old saying, “You never want a drink of water till the well goes dry.” It all started with Cranberries.

With Memorial Day only a few days away and May rapidly drawing to a close it seems that there is a lot of activity around the City. We are looking forward to having a number of the High School students working for us in several different areas during the summer months.

Here we are coming upon the second holiday of the summer holiday season, Memorial Day. This is good time to recognize our veterans and service men and women for their service to our country. I think Shish Kebobs are a good summer choice because they are flexible. You can use beef, chicken, shrimp or all of the above and just about any kind of vegetable.
